The Lancia Montecarlo Consortium was founded in 1990 as part of a move by the UK's Lancia Motor Club to establish groups of model owners who would work together to ensure continuing supplies of spare parts for their cars. By 1996 the focus of the Montecarlo Consortium had shifted towards organising social and competitive events for its members and in 1997 it began producing a bi-monthly newsletter. In 2002 the Consortium decided to become a limited company and in 2004 it became an MSA recognised club, enabling it to organise sporting events with the sanction and approval of the UK's official governing body for motorsport. The Consortium has around 120 members and currently holds information on around 2000 of the 7500 Montecarlos and Scorpions produced by Lancia between 1975 and 1981. It organises a varied mix of social and competitive events aimed at encouraging both members and their families to participate in the enjoyment of one of the most under-rated sports cars of the 1970s. |
